Professional Goals
As a future educator and a lifelong learner, I hope to share my enthusiasm for learning to incoming students in the field of radiation sciences, with an emphasis in radiation therapy coursework. By serving as a mentor to students, I aspire to help them reach their full potential and be successful in this field. I want to actively engage students by providing hands-on opportunities in the clinical setting and utilizing various forms of technology for instruction. This field is continually evolving with new technology and practices and will indefinitely need educators for colleagues and students alike. I seek to lead my radiation therapy colleagues by promoting best practices in the clinic and being innovative in updating workflow processes when appropriate. Obtaining a Master’s in Health Professions Teaching and Technology through the University of Nebraska Medical Center will give me the tools and resources to better share my knowledge and passion with others.
Personal Goals
The word “cancer” is scary to many, young and old, and leaves oncology patients with many questions. I think it is important to do a better job at easing some of the anxieties that a patient has by slowing down, having more patience, and offering more words of encouragement. Not only does this advice relate to my professional career, but also to my personal life. My passion for serving others through community service and volunteering opportunities combined with my desire for learning new things has made me who I am today. I strive for harmony in group situations and my ability to easily relate to others has helped me become a successful team player in many different situations.
